Innovative Marketing to Expand Recognition
June 26, 2013Posted By Chris on Wednesday 26th June 2013 @ 2:30 PM | Filed Under: General Park News
Fantasy Island has appointed Mark Gunner Associates (MGA) to develop the amusement park’s marketing strategy, with the intention to engage further with park visitors. MGA plans to implement a marketing platform known as liveTAP™. This is an innovative marketing platform that will use RFID technology to promote Fantasy Island as a ‘fun, entertaining and affordable destination for the whole family’.
liveTAP™ is intended to identify, track and reward activity at the resort. Exclusive rewards are planned to incentivise guests to use social media platforms to share their favourite aspects of the park. Laurence Davis, CEO of Conduit Leisure, has said in a statement that the company are keen to ‘expand recognition of the resort’ with the goal to ‘cultivate a new level of customer experience and consumer awareness for the company.’ This project will build upon existing marketing techniques and bridge the gap between traditional and online marketing. New campaigns are planned to start in July 2013.

Odyssey Opens for First Time in 2013
June 2, 2013Posted By Chris on Sunday 2nd June 2013 @ 1:14 PM | Filed Under: Jubilee Odyssey
Odyssey at Fantasy Island has now opened to guests for the first time this season.
Problems with Odyssey became clear when the train wasn’t returned to the track in the weeks leading up to the beginning of the season. Despite this, most of the other rides at the park opened on 16th March. Sources at the park confirmed that they were waiting for a replacement part from Odyssey’s manufacturer, Vekoma, before they could reassemble the train.
The train was eventually put back together in late May, but more problems with the brakes and seat restraint sensors were identified during the rigorous testing procedure. As soon as these problems were resolved, Leisure Technical Consultants were called in to approve the safety of the ride.
The ride opened to guests just after lunchtime on Sunday 2nd June and will remain open daily* until the end of the season. For the latest information about ride availability, check the Fantasy Island Facebook Page for daily announcements.
* – Odyssey will open subject to the park’s operating calendar and strict wind restrictions. During off peak periods, operation of Odyssey may be rotated on an hourly basis with Millennium Roller Coaster.

2013 Ride Availability Review
April 11, 2013Posted By Chris on Sunday 31st March 2013 @ 10:16 PM | Filed Under: General Park News
Fantasy Island has been open for a few weeks now, with most rides springing back into action for the busy Easter holiday period. However, a number of rides have already suffered setbacks; with some failing to open. Volcanic Impact has only recently joined the lineup of available rides.
Daily ride availability reports, shared by Fantasy Island on social media, indicate that the majority of rides have now reopened. Unfortunately, Odyssey is yet to make an appearance as the train still hasn’t been returned to its track. Responding to feedback, the park have commented that they are awaiting parts for the ride which ‘won’t arrive for another few weeks’. With more vital maintenance work to be carried out, as well as vigorous testing, it remains to be seen when the park’s signature ride will be available.
N.B. During off peak dates (i.e. outside of school holidays), the park will open for shorter hours and rotational ride operation may occur.

With just a few weeks to go before Fantasy Island opens for the 2013 season, the park has released information about a few additions to the park. The moving rock climbing wall and bucking bronco will both make a return since they proved to be popular with guests last season. Both of these will be included in the wristband system, or individually priced at £1.50 on a live card. The new children’s play area will also be included in the wristband during off peak periods.
The Wall of Death motorcycle stunt show will be visiting Fantasy Island during the school holidays. It will be priced at £3 for ages 13+, £1.50 for children aged 5 to 12 and free for under 5’s.
Domino’s Pizza is opening an outlet at Fantasy Island, which will deliver orders to caravan parks in the surrounding area. Customers will be able to order via the Fantasy Island website when the outlet opens. There are plans for opening deals and promotions including free slices of pizza and free ride wristbands.

More details will be announced by Fantasy Island in the next few weeks.
Elsewhere in the Pyramid, renovation work is being carried out on the Magical Seaquarium ride. This includes cosmetic improvements to revitalise the UV theming as well as a track modification to create more space for a future project in the lower level of the Pyramid.
