Amazing Confusion Reopens

Amazing Confusion, the world’s first Mondial Ultra Max, has reopened this week after significant maintenance work has been carried out over the past 10 months. The ride first closed in June last year, when just one section of seats was removed to gain access to the main arm. In September, it became apparent that the problem was particularly significant as the majority of the ride was deconstructed with parts being sent away to Mondial, the ride manufacturer, to be repaired or replaced. The ride was still in pieces throughout winter, with little to no indication when the ride would reopen. Earlier this month, reports indicated that Amazing Confusion was being reconstructedand three weeks later the ride reopened to guests.

Elsewhere in the park, both rollercoasters have been open for the past few weeks seeing both open late into the night. The park have also introduced rotational ride operation for a number of rides during off peak times, whereby staff move between rides so that each ride opens during specific times. A few rides still remain unavailable, including Rhombus’ RocketMonkey Jump and the Elephant Ride. Nonetheless, the park have added a page to their website to indicate which rides are unavailable.

Butlins Bans Bumping the Bumper Cars

Butlins Bans Bumping the Bumper Cars

Butlins have introduced a ban on bumping into other riders on the dodgems at each of their resorts. Introducing the ride to the UK holiday camps in 1927, Billy Butlin may have been a pioneer of his time as the ride is now a common sight at travelling fairs up and down the country. Due to new health and safety restrictions in place at the holiday camps, riders will now need to drive in a more orderly fashion; avoiding contact with other riders for fear of being banned. Defending the decision the resort director has cited incidents of “broken bones, due to people bumping into each other”. There are currently no known plans to introduce this ban elsewhere.

Rollercoasters Ready to Roll?

Despite Fantasy Island announcing that Odyssey and Millennium would open today reports indicate that both failed to open. The train for Millennium is on track, but the Odyssey restraints were still being fitted. Fantasy Mouse, Amazing Confusion, the flume, Rhombus Rocket, Elephant Ride and Monkey Jump also remained closed.

If you’re visiting the park, we recommend calling Fantasy Island for advice before you visit on 01754 615 860.

Rocky Start to the Season

Rocky Start to the Season

Fantasy Island is now open every day, but despite the park confirming that all rides would be available by April 3rd, some rides still remain closed. Whilst neither of the trains for Millennium Roller Coaster or Jubilee Odyssey has yet been reinstated onto the tracks, some more progress has been made around the park. Amazing Confusion is currently in the process of being reconstructed, since the ride was almost completely deconstructed last year for parts to be sent away to Mondial to be repaired .

It also appears that the park are continuing their effort to spread out the children’s rides, as the base for the Elephant ride has been moved next to Amazing Confusion.

Other cosmetic improvements have been made around the park, with the wall for the Jellikins roller coaster has been removed and the floor of the Seaquarium is looking much cleaner. The log flume also remains unavailable whilst maintenance work is being carried out.

The park have not yet announced when all rides will be open, and with Easter just a few weeks away it looks like the park have their work cut out to get everything ready for one of the busiest times of the year.
